Veteran Friendly Practice

We are proud to be an Armed Forced Veteran Friendly Practice

We are an accredited Royal College of General Practitioners Veteran Friendly Practice and endeavour to support former military personnel in any way we can in accordance with the National Military Covenant.

If you have ever served in the military, either regular or reserve, could you please provide the surgery with any details.

We will update your records to reflect this and make sure you receive the care and services you need. Dr Rabia Dabo is our Veterans lead and will be keen to meet you. If you are ex-forces, please let your GP know to help ensure you are getting the best possible care.

New Patient Check

On registration, all patients over 16 years and children born outside the UK will be given an appointment for a general health check. New Patient Checks are carried out by the Trainee Nurse Associates.

What is a veteran?

A veteran is someone who has served in the British Armed Forces (Regular or Reserve) for at least one day.  Veterans also include any member of the Merchant Marine who has served in a war zone.  This includes crew from convoys in World War 2 and more recently in the Falklands conflict and Gulf Wars.

Armed Forces Covenant

The Armed Forces Covenant states veterans should receive priority treatment for a condition which relates to their service, subject to clinical need and they should be cared for in a way that reflects the nations moral obligation to them. We are committed to following the NHS Patient Charter. This is to ensure that our veterans have access to the help and support they may need following their service.
